The Blackburn Bus Company has announced its Christmas and New Year bus timetable around Blackburn with Darwen.
The operator, part of Transdev, has also said that fares will be capped at £2 until March 2025.
The Burnley Bus Company, also owned by Transdev, has revealed its festive timetable too.
Concessionary travel passes will be available to use as normal, with free travel after 9.30am from Monday to Friday, and at any time at weekends and bank holidays.
Blackburn with Darwen and Burnley Christmas and New Year timetable:
- Monday, December 23 – Saturday service; in Burnley, buses on Hotline after 8pm will serve St James Street and not The Mechanics.
- Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24 – as Monday, December 23, but with last buses around 7pm. Check your specific line on the Transdev website for the actual time.
- Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25 – No services at all.
- Boxing Day, Thursday, December 26 – special Boxing Day timetables every 30 minutes in the daytime on the 1 between Darwen and Blackburn, route 6 between Accrington and Blackburn, and route 7 between Blackburn and Accrington.
- Friday, December 27 – as Monday, December 23.
- Saturday, December 28 – Saturday service.
- Sunday, December 29 – Sunday service.
- Monday, December 30 – as Monday, December 23.
- New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, December 31 – Saturday service, with last buses as Christmas Eve.
- New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1, 2025 – no service.
- Thursday, January 2 - normal weekday services resume.
Blackburn Bus Company general manager, Frank Stanisauskis, said: "We’re releasing details of our seasonal bus services now to make it easier for everyone to make travel plans."
Encouraging people to opt for the bus, Tony Fiocca, Burnley Bus Company general manager, added: “We all know how much of a challenge driving and parking can be at this time of year, with traffic queues, roadworks and congested car parks – and anything that avoids stress and saves money has to be a good idea."
