Students from Accrington Academy have returned from their recent trip to Malawi.
The visit was funded by the UK Government's Turing Scheme, aimed at enhancing students' education through international opportunities and unique life experiences abroad.
During their trip, the students worked alongside local organisations on a range of projects.
These included delivering lessons in English, science, PE, ICT, and Mandarin at Good Shepherd International School.
They also volunteered at an orphanage and the Dzaleka Refugee Camp, and took part in initiatives such as upcycling projects and organising a community swap shop.
Alongside these activities, students had the opportunity to go on a boat and jeep safari, where they learned about Malawi's wildlife and natural heritage.
They also further explored the culture of Malawian by visiting Lilongwe Wildlife Centre, a crocodile farm, and Lake Malawi.
The group transported half a tonne of items to Malawi, supported by contributions from the Accrington community.
football kits, clothing, toys, baby essentials, and even yoga mats and phones.
These included brand-new musical instruments, stationery, solar panels,Businesses such as Accrington Stanley, Tesco, Mortimers Estate Agents, Great Harwood Rovers, Booths, and ClassicFootballShirts.co.uk were among those that donated.
Accrington Academy and Good Shepherd International School plan to continue their partnership, with Malawian students invited to visit Accrington in July next year to build on the relationship between the two schools.
Freya, a student from Academy student, said: "Going to Malawi was one of the best choices I've made.
"I learnt about other cultures, how other people live and learning to be grateful for what I have.
"I met so many people that I'm still in contact with and everybody was so welcoming and supportive; I'd love to go back."
