Top choirs from across Lancashire, including two from East Lancs, have taken to the stage to compete for the title of being the county's best in 2024.
The final, which took place on Thursday, November 28, at Lancaster University's Great Hall, saw the victorious all-female group Red Rosettes Choir perform two a cappella songs for the audience.
Judges Councillor Phillippa Williamson, leader of Lancashire County Council, John Garrett, director of Pendle Ladies Choir, which won the competition in 2023, and Loz Kaye, director of Lancashire County of Song, judged the acts.
The finalists were Leyland's Red Rosettes, the Song Rooms Choir from Chorley, the Capricorn Singers from Cleveleys, Burnley's Basics Vocalize Choir, the Rossendale Festival Choir, and the Barton Road Community Choir from Lancaster.
Tim Uffindell compered the evening.
The Basics Vocalize Choir, consisting of vocalists aged from 13 to 19, delivered renditions of Hello Hallelujah and Unwritten at the finals.
Fittingly for its 40-year pedigree, the Rossendale Festival Choir brought a traditional touch to the evening with a performance of Verleih uns Frieden, which was followed by African Alleluia, complete with a traditional African djembe drum.
Eventual victors the Red Rosettes performed 'Maybe This Time' and 'Sing', with the all-female group wowing judges and the crowd with their singing.
The People's Choice Award, as voted on by members of the public, was presented to the Barton Road Community Choir, who performed 'Better Place' and their take on A-ha classic 'Take On Me'.
The Burnley teenagers of Basics Vocalise were runners-up, with Capricorn Singers coming third.
As overall Choir of the Year 2024, the Red Rosettes have been awarded a professional recording session, while the runners-up and People's Choice choirs have been offered a professional vocal workshop.
Cllr Peter Buckley, cabinet member for community and cultural services, said: "It was wonderful being in the audience for this year's contest.
"The standard of performance just gets better each year and it was so hard to guess who would be crowned the winner.
"Every single performance was so expressive and full of talent and energy giving the judges an extremely difficult decision to make.
"Congratulations to the Red Rosettes Show Choir, whose performances were inspiring and unforgettable.
"My compliments to everyone who took part and especially the finalists, who showed us what an unstoppable force of talent we have in Lancashire. I am already excited to see what next year will bring."
