A news presenter raised in East Lancashire and the county’s High Sheriff are among those receiving honorary fellowships this month.
The University of Central Lancashire is awarding the fellowships as part of its winter graduation ceremonies.
Geeta Guru-Murthy, who was raised in West Bradford alongside her brother and fellow news presenter Krishnan, will be honoured for her contribution to journalism.
High Sheriff of Lancashire Helen Bingley will also be honoured, plus BBC presenter Steve Saul, from Preston.
The graduation ceremonies will take place between Tuesday, December 10, and Thursday 12, with some 2,400 students donning their caps and gowns to graduate.
Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre in Preston will host the events.
Ms Guru-Murthy was born in Liverpool but grew up in West Bradford as her father worked as a radiologist at Royal Blackburn and Burnley General Hospitals.
She has worked for the BBC for 25 years on television and radio as a presenter and is currently chief presenter on the BBC News Channel.
She will receive her honorary fellowship on Wednesday, December 11.
Helen Bingley, from Lancaster, became High Sheriff in April after a career rising through the ranks at NHS Trusts.
She also founded the Abaseen Foundation to support alleviate poverty in remote areas of Pakistan, and received an OBE in 2019.
She will also be made an honorary fellow on December 11 for her contribution to the NHS in the northwest.
Steve Saul, whose radio career began as a 13-year-old volunteer on hospital radio, is being honoured for his contribution to regional radio and television on December 12.
He worked for BBC local radio stations before presenting news bulletins on BBC Radio 5 Live, and is now a presenter and producer on BBC North West Tonight.
Both Ms Bingley and Mr Saul are UCLan alumni.
