A much-loved festive tradition returns to the streets of Blackburn tonight.

Blackburn Round Table has revealed the route for their annual Santa's sleigh tour.

An official said: "Santa and his sleigh will travel along various streets while helpers from several local charities and groups collect donations via cash and card."

"Times are hard this year, but any donations are gratefully received. Money raised by the group is distributed to local charities and causes throughout the year.

"This year (we) have supported Blackburn Youth Zone, Blackburn Community Football Club, Creative Football, The Billy Project, St George’s Scouts, Blackburn Sea Cadets, Community Spirit, Lancashire Women’s Centre, The 180 Project, ELHT&Me, Wildwood Days CIC."

Tonight the sleigh, from 6.30pm will be in Feniscowles then tomorrow in Sunny Bower and Thursday in Aster Chase, from the same time.

On Saturday from 3.30pm, Santa will visit Green Hills and then be in Fernhurst at the same time on Sunday.

The tour resumes on Tuesday, December 10, from 6.30pm, in Lammack, then at the same time the following Wednesday in Lower Darwen and Brownhill on Thursday.

For Saturday, December 14, the sleigh will be in Beechwood from 3.30pm then on Sunday in Oakdale from 6.30pm.

Then the sleigh will finish up in Green Lane, Mill Hill and Ivy St on Tuesday, December 17, from 6:30pm

Donations can also made via text message by texting 'RTSANTA' along with the amount to donate to 70085. For example, Text 'RTSANTA 5' to 70085 would donate £5. Texts cost £5 plus one standard rate message.
