Are you an expert on the ice or more like Bambi? Lancashire has plenty of ice rinks opening this winter so you can practice your skills.

To help you choose your next day out, we’ve listed a few ice rinks you can try out in the county.

From Planet Ice to Pleasure Beach Arena, winter calls for a skate on the ice.

5 ice rinks in Lancashire you can enjoy this winter

Planet Ice

Location: Blackburn Arena, Waterside, Lower Audley Street, Blackburn, BB2 3DY

Planet Ice is open this winter and you can even book lessons to really perfect your spins.

If you pre-book your skating slot online, you can get a hot chocolate and a mince pie for £3.75, ideal to keep yourself warm after a session on the ice.

The Show & Skate amateur skaters will also be putting on a show this year. You can see Aladdin on Wednesday, December 11 at 7pm with doors opening at 6pm.

Pleasure Beach Arena

Location: Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool, FY4 1EZ

The Ice Rink at Blackpool Pleasure Beach is available for the public to enjoy and the venue can also be hired out for events.

You can see the timetable of events on the website (linked above), including when the public sessions are taking place.

If you need lessons, these are also available at the Pleasure Beach Arena.

This year, you can also look forward to shows including Christmas Grotto Wonderland (tickets from £17.99) and Snow White (tickets from £10).

Lancaster On Ice

Location: Dalton Square, Lancaster

Lancaster On Ice is back for another year and you have until January 5, 2025 to try out your skating skills on real ice.

Ticket prices are £11 on off peak days and £12 on peak days for under 13s. Over 13s will pay £13 for off peak days and £15 for peak days. Skate aids are available for an extra £5.

It’s recommended that you arrive 20 minutes before your ice skating session.

Wheelchair users can enjoy the ice and get one free PA/Companion ticket if they email info@lancashireonice.co.uk to book.

Christmas By The Sea

Location: Near Blackpool Tower

Blackpool’s ice rink is available to use for free until January 5, 2025 with daily availability from 12pm-9pm, except for Christmas Day when it will be closed.

As well as free entry, you can hire skates for free too.

You can turn up without booking a time slot and the skating rink is for all abilities and ages, including wheelchair users who can enjoy the ice rink too.

After skating, you can enjoy the rest of Christmas By The Sea which includes fairground rides, installations, simulated snowfalls and more.

Skate Manchester Cathedral Gardens

Location: The Cathedral Gardens, Manchester, M4 3BG

You can enjoy the pop-up ice rink in Cathedral Gardens, Manchester until January 1, 2025 but it’s closed on Christmas Day.

Prices for up to 45 minutes are from £14 for adults, from £10 for children and families can skate from £46. Wheelchair Users can enjoy the ice rink from £10. All prices do not include the booking fee but skate hire is included.

The ice rink opens at 10.30am with the first session starting at 11am and it closes at 9pm with the last available slot in the day being an 8pm start.

You should arrive between 30 and 40 minutes before your session slot.
