Hyndburn MP Sarah Smith, Labour is using her Accrington town centre constituency office as a collection centre for the nearby Lancashire Women charity.
The initiative is part of the White Ribbon Charity’s 16 Days of Action, a global campaign that takes action to end violence against women and girls.
Lancashire Women has a centre in Accrington that helps vulnerable women overcome barriers in life including legal support for those facing domestic abuse.
The Labour MP is asking people to donate food and toiletries.
Mrs Smith said: “Since becoming elected, want to ensure that my constituency office is an open and accessible hub for the community.
"This is one of many initiatives I will use the premises for throughout my term as a member of parliament.
“It’s important to note that violence against women and girls is not only a women’s issue.
"It means being accountable to ourselves and others by being an ally. It means taking responsibility for what you can change when you see or hear things that are not right.
“We are already taking action to fight the global crisis of gender-based violence. Domestic abuse specialists will be situated in 999 control rooms and independent legal advocated will be rolled out for rape victims in the next year.
“However, we all need to take personal responsibility to tackle the misogynism that lies at the root of such violence.
" Whether it be calling people out for using sexist language or challenging our own prejudice”.
Those wanting to donate to the collection can do so by dropping off food or toiletries at 9 Blackburn Road, Accrington, between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday by Tuesday, December 10.
