'We're the best in Longridge, in fact, we're the best in the Ribble Valley as well'
This week's pub is located on the edge of the Ribble Valley and has a steak and ale pie that its "friendly" regulars love - plus a humorously-named ale.
The Dog Inn, in Market Place, Longridge, is one of quite a few pubs in the village, but despite stiff competition, the staff maintains it's the 'best in the area'.
The Lancashire Telegraph spoke to Bianca Smith who works as a supervisor there.
Introduce yourself
My name is Bianca Smith and I've worked at the Dog Inn for 18 months.
What attracted you to working here?
I've worked in a Longridge pub before, at the Townley Arms just down the road, and I've worked in the industry for nine years.
As I'm Longridge born and bred, and I'd been to the pub as a customer, I thought I'd apply for the job and I got it!
What's the best thing about the pub?
The food, the staff, the customers, it's all great, I love working here.
But, if I were to sell the pub on one feature it would be the view out the back, you've got the reservoirs, the hills, the tops of people's houses.
If you head out there on a summer's day it's just stunning to look at.
What's your most popular menu item?
I'd say either the steak and ale pie or the chicken schnitzel, people really love those.
I've tried them as well and they are really lovely, especially as a lot of our food is freshly homemade.
What's the draught beer line-up?
- Pheasant Plucker ale
- IPA Buster
- Neck Oil IPA
- Peroni
- Guinness
- Inch's cider
- Heineken Silver
- Heineken Zero
- Birra Moretti
- Cruzcampo
- Birra Moretti Sale Di Mare
What other food do you serve?
We do light bites until 5pm, small cod and mushy peas, chicken and bacon club sandwich, tuna melt, cheese toasties, hot roast beef rolls, Aberdeen Angus burgers, scampi, soup, halloumi fries, chips, loaded chips, and more.
So absolutely loads!
What's Longridge like?
It's a lovely village, I've lived here all my life and can't complain.
Is the Dog Inn the best pub in Longridge?
Of course! We're the best pub in the Ribble Valley as well!
You can find the Dog Inn in Market Place, Longridge.
