The elusive Darwen Grinch has been spotted roaming around town for the first time this year.
The Grinch, whose real identity is shrouded in mystery, takes to the streets of Darwen each Christmas and has been spotted at several landmarks in previous years.
His appearance each year has become a Christmas tradition in the town and is said to lift everybody's spirits during the festive season.
One of the Grinch's first sightings this year was outside Number 1 Coffee Shop in Bolton Road.
He stopped for a snap with owner Joanne Bates and her colleague Tracy as he walked past with his dog Max earlier this afternoon (November 26).
Debra Duckett, who has previously described herself as the Grinch's manager, told the Lancashire Telegraph in previous years: "The reaction he receives is overwhelming.
"Kids will wave and take photographs with him.
"He does this from the heart and not for any other reason. He just wants to spread some Christmas cheer."
The 'real' Grinch is an iconic character created by Dr Seuss who hated Christmas so much that he stole it, only to have his views changed after seeing the Christmas spirit in Whoville despite his wicked actions.
