One of the UK’s youngest multi-genre DJs, whose passion for music inspired her dad to join her on stage, is to host her first-ever event.
Grace Slater, a student at Burnley High School, was taught to DJ by her dad, who built a successful career during the noughties with residencies across various clubs across the North West.
The 16-year-old plays a range of genres including bounce, hardstyle and hardcore and has already played at a number of venues across East Lancashire.
These events have included performing at an Under 18’s rave at Revival Bar in Nelson and live streams for Raverlight Streams.
Grace said: “My abilities as a young, female artist in a male-dominated industry have helped me grow from strength to strength, taking stereotypes and changing the narrative, with each event I have attended.
“My dad had residencies at various clubs in the early 2000s and my passion for music inspired him to dust off his headphones and come out of retirement.”
The pair will be performing together, alongside Noizy Entertainments and DJ HRTZ at Electric Circus in Burnley this weekend, with a total of seven DJs and two MCs.
Taking place on Saturday, November 30, it will also be live-streamed in aid of mental health charity MIND.
Grace added: “I have been playing solo in the outhouse of our home from 10 years old, but my passion began from listening to my dad practice his long-time hobby from a young age.
“As I have grown, I have been fortunate enough to have been promoted by family friends such as DJ HRTZ, allowing me to use his professional equipment and my Uncle Carl for designing my logo.”
On her SoundCloud Grace has reached listeners from around the world and has become a school celebrity with the teachers listening to her sets in the gym and on the way to work.
