A church is launching a new community project in Blackburn.
Love Blackburn West, led by Feniscowles Methodist Church, is set to focus on strengthening community ties in Feniscowles and nearby areas.
The initiative is rooted in Christian values but welcomes everyone, regardless of faith or background.
Its primary aim is to foster community spirit, celebrate shared experiences, and offer support where most needed, particularly in newer housing developments.
The project is kicking off with the Christmas Big Sing, an event set to take place on Tuesday, December 19, from 6pm to 7pm on the Green Hill Estate.
Organised in partnership with Kingswood Homes, the festive event will feature traditional carols, children's crafts, and refreshments such as hot chocolate and mulled wine.
A collection will also be held for Derian House Children's Hospice.
The event is being organised as a collaborative effort, with Reverend Elizabeth, the Methodist minister at Feniscowles Methodist Church, leading the evening.
The local vicar of St Francis and Immanuel Church, along with Woodlands United Reformed Church, will also be involved.
Community groups are being encouraged to participate to help make the evening even more special.
In a bid to further engage with the community, Love Blackburn West is also distributing a survey alongside event leaflets.
The aim is to better understand how to serve the area more effectively.
Looking ahead to the new year, the group is launching The Wellbeing Journey in January.
Starting on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, the eight-week course is designed to help people improve their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
It will be held at Feniscowles Methodist Church from 5.30pm to 7pm, and is open to everyone.
The course offers practical tools for supporting overall well-being, with light refreshments provided to create a welcoming environment.
