Train services between areas in Lancashire and Cumbria will be suspended until Friday due to flooding caused by Storm Bert.
The line between Lancaster and Barrow-in-Furness is closed until at least the end of the week (Friday, November 29), with flooding hitting particularly hard in Ulverston.
Train operator Northern have said there will be no trains running on the line but a bus replacement service will be in operation.
Pictures from the scene shared by Network Rail showed water covering the tracks near Ulverston and landslips from the bank sliding onto the track.
A spokesperson for Northern said: "Services between Lancaster and Barrow-in-Furness are currently being disrupted due to heavy rain flooding the railway.
"Network Rail staff are on site and are working to clear the flood water and make the necessary repairs to the track to allow train running to recommence.
"Train running is currently suspended in both directions between Lancaster - Barrow-in-Furness and the line is expected to reopen on November 29 at 4.30am."
Services between Manchester Airport and Barrow-in-Furness will start/terminate at Lancaster and services between Lancaster and Carlisle via Barrow will start/terminate at Barrow.
Services between Carlisle and Barrow via Workington are are running normally but may be subject to delays or short-notice alterations due to staff displacement due to this incident.
