The fire service said it was inundated with calls on Saturday (November 23) and rescued two people who were stranded in a car, in Bacup.
Storm Bert caused chaos across East Lancashire, particularly in Rossendale. The fire service said it received 53 calls, related to flooding, in a 24-hour period.
The majority of the calls involved properties that had been flooded, affecting the electricity supply on the premises.
At around 3.30pm, the service was called to Market Street. Firefighters rescued two people who were in a car, stranded by flooding. Firefighters rescued the two individuals using a Hagglund vehicle.
A fire service spokesperson said: “Our control room received 53 calls in a 24 hour period regarding flooding in the Rossendale area. The majority of the calls that we attended were involving properties that had been flooded and the electricity supply in premises had been affected.
“At 3.29pm (November 23), one fire engine from Burnley, along with the Hagglund from Rawtenstall, attended an incident on Market Street, Bacup. Firefighters used the Hagglund to rescue two people who were in a car that was stranded from flood water.”
