Football manager Wayne Rooney has hinted at an appearance on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here after praising the efforts of his wife Coleen Rooney on the show.

The 39-year-old called into the ITV2 spin-off programme I'm A Celebrity Unpacked to talk about her time in the Australian jungle.

Wayne Rooney hints at I'm A Celeb stint as he praises wife Coleen Rooney

According to The Sun, he told Joel Dommett: "She's a nice person, a warm person, and a very caring person, and I think that's coming across.

"You know, I think she's probably in the middle of the older ones and the younger ones, so she's probably bridging that gap little bit.

"But I think she's absolutely shown her personality, her character, and I think that's coming across strong. It's great to see her in there and see us settling in as well over the last few days."

Wayne Rooney added: "We always said that if we were ever going to do one, that's the one we'd do. And obviously, Coleen's gone out there to test herself."

Focussing on the word "we", Joel asked if the footballing legend would ever consider entering the I'm A Celebrity jungle himself.

He said: "Maybe, if I'm not working, it's something I would like to do, but at the minute, obviously, that's not possible."

He also admitted to voting for her to take on a Bushtucker Trials on the ITV show.

He added: "Yeah, I'd love to see her do a trial. I'm sure part of the experience of going out there and being part of the show is to do the trials and to test yourself.

"So obviously, I think Dean doing the trials at the minute is not doing so well. So, I'd love to see Coleen do one, because, I suppose, it's part of the experience, and I think she'd be great as well. I think she'd be, she'd be really good at the trials."

It would now appear that Wayne's wish has come true after Coleen was chosen to take part in the next trial alongside Dean McCullough.
