More than 20 cars and vans were seized as part of a police “bin the bangers” operation aimed at tackling abandoned and untaxed vehicles.
The vehicles were seized across the Bridge Street area in Accrington by police officers in partnership with the DVLA and Hyndburn Council on Wednesday November 20.
Police say that a total of 21 were seized, four of them for obstruction, on for unnecessary obstruction for a highway and 16 for having no tax or MOT.
Local Neighbourhood Inspector for Hyndburn Peter Norris said: “We know that these vehicles can be hazardous for our residents and cause problems for businesses, as well as being a real eyesore for those living and working in the area.
“We are glad we have been able to work closely with our partners to remove these vehicles off our streets and will continue to address the concerns of our communities.”

Officers say that the narrow street, with cars parked on both sides, hindered the movement of larger vehicles and limited parking options in the area.
They say the recovered vehicles were safely stored, and the offending garages will be receiving a Community Protection Warning in due course.
Hyndburn Council will also be conducting a street cleanse to restore the area.
