A 13-year-old boy has been charged by police following a barrage of abuse and threatening behaviour to police officers in Bacup.
The incident occurred on August 20 and officers were alerted to a large group of youths being disorderly in the town centre.
On August 28, Rossendale Police arrested a 13-year-old boy from Bacup on suspicion of affray and Section 4 Public Order.
He has now been charged for these offences and has been bailed with conditions before his appearance at Preston Youth Court on December 5.
A police spokesperson said: “We have charged a teenager following disorder in Bacup town centre.
“On August 20, following reports of large groups of youths, officers attending the scene were met with threatening behaviour and abusive language.
“On August 28, Rossendale Police arrested a 13-year-old boy from Bacup on suspicion of affray and Section 4 Public Order.
“We can now tell you that the 13-year-old boy from Bacup has been charged with Section 4 Public order and has been bailed with conditions. He will appear at Preston Youth Court on December 5.”
