Police are appealing for witnesses after a high-speed pursuit resulted in a woman being arrested.
Officers noticed that a white Mercedes was being driven suspiciously close to a tipper truck at Junction 2 of the M65.
After following both vehicles when they came off at Junction 7 of the M65 and headed into Rishton, police began their high-speed pursuit.
A blue Volkswagen Touareg attempted to block officers from pursuing the tipper and efforts were then made to stop it.
However, as the vehicle was being driven in such a dangerous and reckless manner, they had to call off the pursuit to protect the public and other road users.
The driver of the Mercedes - a 19-year-old woman from Great Harwood – was arrested in Barrons Way, Great Harwood on suspicion of dangerous driving after a stinger was deployed. She remains in custody.
Police are appealing to people who live in Rishton and Great Harwood to check their CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to see if they captured the pursuit or any vehicles involved.
A police spokesperson said: “This behaviour will not be tolerated on the roads of Lancashire and work is ongoing to identify and arrest the other motorists involved.”
