An off-road biker crashed into a bus, smashing his head on the windscreen and leaving covered in blood.
Blackburn Magistrates' Court heard Joseph Sutcliffe was not wearing a helmet at the time and hit his head on the windscreen of the bus.
Sutcliffe, 23, of Whitegate Close, Padiham, pleaded guilty to driving without due care, failing to stop and driving without a licence or insurance.
He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
Damien Pickup, in mitigation, said his client had been off-roading and then wheeled the bike to his girlfriend’s house.
“For some reason, he then made the stupid decision to ride the bike home,” said Mr Pickup.
“At the time of the collision he actually had right of way but he didn’t have any lights on his bike.”
Mr Pickup said his client was concussed after his head hit the windscreen of the bus.
“A member of the public helped to get him home to his mother and she was shocked to see him covered in blood,” said Mr Pickup.
“She tried to get him to go to hospital but he didn’t want to.”
Mr Pickup said for the next couple of weeks his client was not himself.
“This wasn’t an attempt to avoid arrest, he suffered a significant head injury,” said Mr Pickup.
“He has no previous convictions and has learned his lesson from this.”
