The Met Office has issued new weather warnings for snow, ice and rain across Blackburn and other parts of East Lancashire.
A yellow warning for ice has been forecast from 4pm today (November 20) until 10am on Thursday.
This warning covers most parts of East Lancashire, including Blackburn with Darwen.
Another warning for rain and snow comes into force on Saturday (November 23). The warning runs from 4am until 9am.
This is after snow fell across the county on Tuesday, causing some travel issues.
The new warning covers all parts of East Lancashire. Preston and coastal areas of Lancashire are not currently covered by the warning.
The Met Office said snow of between 2cm and 5cm (up to 2in) is expected widely, and it could reach 10cm in some parts of the northwest mainland. Higher ground will see 15cm to 20cm (up to 7.8in), the Met Office said.
The Met Office said there is a chance floodwater could cause danger to life, some rural communities could become cut off, and there may be travel disruption.
In Blackburn, temperatures are set to dip to -2°C today and tomorrow.
Currently, temperatures are forecast to increase towards the weekend climbing to 11°C on Saturday, with lows of 8°C also forecast on this day.
At the time of writing, it is not set to snow at the weekend but heavy rain is forecast from 6am onwards on Saturday. The outlook is similar in other parts of East Lancashire.
Met Office spokesperson Andrea Bishop said: “A deep area of low pressure is expected to bring a spell of prolonged and, at times, heavy rainfall across a large part of the UK this weekend.
“Across southwest England, rain is expected to develop on Saturday mornings, with heavier rain likely later in the day and overnight into early Sunday mornings.
“Fifty to 75mm of rain is expected to fall fairly widely during this time with a chance that some places over Dartmoor could see 100-125mm. Strong southerly winds will accompany the heavy rain and may locally exacerbate impacts.”
A Met Office spokesperson added on Wednesday morning: “Rain, snow and ice continue to be potential hazards through this week as an Arctic air mass continues to influence the UK’s weather, bringing potential ongoing disruption for some.
“It will be feeling very cold for most, with daytime temperatures in the low single figures, with a wind chill meaning it will be feeling even cooler.”
