A Coronation Street star from Bacup has issued an exciting Dancing On Ice update, days after his professional dancing partner was revealed.

In September, it was revealed that Sam Aston, who plays Chesney Brown on the ITV soap, was set to put on his skates and take part in the competition next year.

In an exciting update, which he shared to his Instagram story, it was confirmed that Sam’s first dance routine of the season has been choreographed.

Sam’s Dancing On Ice professional partner has also been revealed as Molly Lanaghan, from Doncaster.

Molly said: “The wait is over! We’re so excited to be team Sam and Molly for Dancing On Ice 2025!

“Proper buzzing to be partnered together and to represent the North!! Now let’s lace up and glide into this journey together!”

Making the announcement earlier this year Sam said his eldest son, Sonny, is excited to see him take to the ice.

He said: “I can’t say it was something I always wanted to do.

"The press office mentioned it and we went for a chat and I got a real buzz going and experiencing a little bit. I thought, ‘why not?’.

“We went and had a chat and spoke about how the show works. They stand you on the ice for five to 10 minutes [to get a sense of what you’ll be like].

Coming into the show as a young child you don’t think about doing [reality shows].

"Now I have children and my son is excited about it asking if he could come.

“Anyone at work who has done it, that I have spoken to, they say it’s a great experience but it’s really hard.

“I am nervous, don’t get me wrong, but I am excited to get going with it now. I am not putting any pressure on myself. It still feels like it’s forever away.

“I have [filming for Coronation Street] and three young kids so it’s going to be hard.”

Reality TV stars Ferne McCann, from The Only Way Is Essex, and Mollie Pearce, who appeared on The Traitors, plus Olympic rowing legend Sir Steve Redgrave have also been confirmed as participants so far.

Sam, 31, has played Chesney in Coronation Street since 2003.

His job role has prepared him for fatherhood as his character became a father-of-five in 2019 when his partner on the show, Gemma Winter, gave birth to quadruplets.

Sam’s real life children are Sonny, Daisy and Hazel. He is married to wife, Briony, a hypnobirthing teacher and a doula.

Dancing on Ice is expected to return to ITV and ITVX in January.
