A historic hotel that closed down last year and went up for sale in March has been sold for an undisclosed sum.
Rosehill House Hotel in Burnley closed with immediate effect on December 12, 2023, after father and daughter owners John Doherty and Emma Pennington announced they were no longer able to continue operating the business.
The hotel was built in 1846 for wealthy cotton mill owner Adam Dugdale and was later occupied by the Home Guard during World War II.
It was converted into a hotel in 1963 and was refurbished and opened 27 years ago.
The popular wedding venue comprised 30 refurbished bedrooms, a restaurant and bar, a Victorian conservatory, and garden space.

“Rosehill House Hotel benefits from a superb location and offers strong ongoing potential.”

The announcement of the hotel’s closure was made close to a year ago, through a post on the hotel’s Facebook page on December 14.
It said: “It is with a broken heart and tears falling that we have to announce the closure of our beloved Rosehill House.
“The last 27 years have been an incredible journey of experiences, friendships, highs and lows, and every emotion you could possibly imagine.
“I will cherish the wonderful memories we created with the best team of people any business could hope to have, to the suppliers and many loyal fantastic customers who have become friends and made the last 27 years possible.
“With so many factors beyond our control, we are devastated to say we are no longer able to continue operating and have closed the business with immediate effect.
“It has been an absolute pleasure and memories that we will hold dear forever. Emma and John.”
