A Nelson man has been charged by police in connection with an investigation after a large quantity of cash and drugs were seized.

Officers stopped a Volkswagen Passat at 8pm on Sunday, November 17, on Camden Street, Nelson and said they found a half kilogram of cocaine and cash.

During a subsequent search of a house in Nelson, around 1.5kg of suspected heroin was also seized.

Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Rajab Ali, 46, of Camden Street, was charged with possession of heroin with intent to supply, possession of an offensive weapon in a private place, and acquiring/using/possessing criminal property.

He was remanded in custody and was due to appear before Blackburn Magistrates Court today, November 19.

Two men, aged 22 and 43, were arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply and have been released under investigation.
