A man took his own life after struggling to find work and the end of an online relationship, an inquest has heard.
Mohammed Ali Sadiq, known as Ali to his family and friends, was 24 at the time of his death on July 27.
His body was found by his mother in a storage room in their house.
In an inquest at Blackburn Town Hall, a statement from Mohammed’s mother, Abida, was read to the court by Coroner Laura Fox which described how she had last seen her son in the early hours of that morning.
She had gone to bed at around 12.15am and saw that Mohammed’s bedroom light was still on, so she went in and they chatted for a while.
The next morning when she came downstairs she saw a light was on in a side room that the family rarely used. She went inside to check and found Mohammed lying on the floor.
An ambulance was called and they told family members to start CPR immediately, but when they arrived Mohammed was pronounced dead.
In the same statement read by Ms Fox, Mohammed’s mother said he “loved reading books” and that he was “very clever and a good student.”
She explained that he had stayed at home after he graduated and that he had applied for a few accountancy jobs but was told he was not experienced enough.
The inquest also heard that Mohammed would not leave the house often and that he would spend a lot of time on his laptop.
Mohammed had managed to secure a couple of interviews, which were scheduled for the week after his death.
The senior investigating officer in the case, DI Green, said in their evidence that Mohammed had been engaging in an online relationship over Twitter/X for several months prior to his death.
However, the other person decided to cease contact with Mohammed and their final reply to him was on July 18.
The officer also said they were satisfied there was no evidence of suspicious circumstances, third-party involvement, or that Mohammed had been a victim of crime.
He was not known to have suffered from any mental health conditions and there was no evidence of medication, illicit substances or alcohol near to where his body was found.
Concluding the inquest, Ms Fox said: “I’ve considered all the evidence very carefully. On the balance of probabilities, Mr Sadiq intended to take his own life and he succeeded by the means he adopted.”
Ms Fox officially recorded a conclusion of suicide.
