A man who was found to be in possession of a noxious gas has had his sentence date postponed.

Dale Watts, 33, appeared unrepresented at Preston Crown Court having been charged with possession of CS gas (tear gas) and possession of cannabis/cannabis resin.

Watts, of Albert Street, Burnley, was asked by Recorder Ayesha Siddiqi why he did not have representation, and he said because he 'just wanted to get it done.'

Recorder Siddiqi said she was happy to give Watts time to seek representation if he wanted it as the offences are "quite serious" and "they can put forward some arguments on your behalf."

Watts agreed that he would speak to the probation service about obtaining a pre-sentence report.

The Recorder said: "If I get a report it would help me to consider the options but it would also give you time to organise legal representation if you want it.

"I think there is some benefit to the court having more information. I'm going to direct that there should be a pre-sentence report.

"It's your choice, but it would be helpful."

Recorder Siddiqi adjourned the hearing until February 19 and directed that Watts be produced in court.
