A Blackburn company has been ordered to pay one of its former employees more than £1,000 in unpaid wages.

Claimant Mr O F Nagdee was employed by Device Revive Limited in Blackburn from November 18, 2023, until January 3, when he was dismissed.

Mr Nagdee was contracted to work 14 hours over two days each week for £9 per hour at the company’s Blackburn premises.

Although Mr Nagdee was provided with payslips, he did not receive any pay from the company during his employment.

Mr Nagdee presented a claim form on January 26 and brought complaints of unlawful deduction from wages.

An employment tribunal was heard at Alexandra House in Manchester over video link on September 23, with a report into the hearing’s findings being published earlier this month.

Mr Nagdee attended the hearing though representatives from Device Revive did not.

Judge Johnson said the complaint of unlawful deduction from wages is “well-founded and succeeds.”

This was the same for the complaint of breach of contract, with Mr Nagdee being entitled to receive one week’s pay notice.

The judge ordered Device Revive Ltd to pay Mr Nagdee £1,023.75, £897.75 of which being his pay during his employment, and £126 for his one week’s notice pay.
