A Lancashire care provider is asking East Lancs residents to share “the joy of giving” and make sure “nobody is forgotten” this Christmas.
The ‘Present for a Pensioner’ initiative, run by CareYourWay, hopes to bring the magic of the festive season to members of the community who may be facing the period alone.
Its care home teams across the region will be delivering luxury hampers to deserving individuals, in its first year in the region.
Callum Ramsey, director of East Lancashire’s CareYourWay, said: “As the festive season approaches, many of us eagerly anticipate celebrations filled with family, warmth, and the joy of giving.
“Yet, for some, Christmas can be a time of loneliness and isolation.
“Each hamper is a reminder that those who may feel forgotten are cared for, valued, and celebrated by their community.
“The programme’s success is made possible by the generous support of local businesses and compassionate members of the community.”
Working alongside healthcare professionals, who nominate individuals who they believe would benefit from the scheme, it hopes to transform lives through care.
Starting out in South Devon, the annual event has grown into a national movement, impacting lives across the UK.
Each hamper is filled with treats, festive essentials and practical items to create moments of joy for the recipients.
Aimed at elderly neighbours, someone struggling with the loss of a loved one or someone who needs so extra cheer during the winter, they aim to ensure that nobody is forgotten.
Callum added: “Through Present for a Pensioner, we aim to combat loneliness and isolation while reminding each recipient that they are surrounded by a caring community.
“This act of kindness, shared at such a meaningful time, truly embodies the festive spirit and the importance of looking out for one another.”
