I don’t see why some people are so worried about Donald Trump being elected. It was always going to happen.

Yet, the same people cheering on Trump are likely to moan about religious followers who see no fault in their leaders.

Much of this comes from the idea that one can be devoid of any criticism. Trump has proved this over the years in that he can say whatever he wants and his fans will just choose to ignore it.

I mean, here was a guy who in a national debate told people that ‘Haitians were eating the dogs and cats’ in a town, to scare folk about people from other countries.

We reached a point, a long time ago, where you could make absolutely anything up about immigrants and people would believe it or share it because of their own deep-seated hatred and prejudices.

It happens across the world and not just in America and Europe.

The same level of prejudice takes place in some of the oil-rich Gulf states against migrant workers from South and East Asia and Africa.

Much like some religious leaders who have blind followers, Trump knows all too well that he was able to say what he wants without any real repercussions.

Hell, he fanned the flames for the January 6 insurrection and storming of the Capitol Building in 2021, an incident which should have ended any chance of him ever being involved in politics again, but here he is. POTUS number 47.

And that's without even mentioning his long string of racist, misogynistic, anti-disability comments. Oh, and the fact he's a convicted criminal.

He is likely to follow the familiar plan of his first presidency now in his second go-round.

He will say something ‘controversial’ on a Monday and follow that up with something else on the Wednesday.

By the end of the week, we will have forgotten what he said on Monday and likely to be more ‘outraged’ with the latest comment.

This is all due in part to our shorter attention spans with the amount of information we consume through our phones, and the relentless news cycle.

All those people thinking things will change for the better are wholly mistaken. The rich will get richer, the poor will stay poor, the American class will be squeezed, and the so-called immigration problem will not be fixed.

Trump is still part of the establishment he claims he fighting against. He just wants you to think he isn’t. It is a great trick.
