A “warm and friendly” primary school in Blackburn has “strengthened” since its last Ofsted inspection, a new report said.
St Alban’s Roman Catholic Primary School in Trinity Street was rated as requires improvement at an inspection in November 2022.
However, a follow-up inspection took place on September 24 and the report published last week now rated the school as good in all areas.

Inspectors said the school has “strengthened its curriculum” since the last inspection, with pupils now benefitting from a curriculum which identifies what they should learn from the early years to Year 6.
It said the school considered the workload and wellbeing of staff when making these changes and that staff have secure subject knowledge.
The report said: “St Alban’s is a warm and friendly school where everyone is welcome.
"The secure relationships that pupils have with the nurturing staff help them to feel happy, safe, and well cared for.
“Pupils are proud to attend their school and to be part of its diverse community. They relish opportunities to make positive differences in the lives of others.
“The school has high expectations of what all pupils should achieve, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Since the previous inspection, the school has taken steps to strengthen the curriculum. This has enabled pupils to achieve increasingly well.”

The report also said the school was “tenacious” in its work to improve the attendance of pupils who do not attend school as regularly as they should and that it works closely with parents to ensure they understand how absences affect children’s learning.
Ofsted said the school could improve its assessment strategies and make sure they are used consistently and effectively across all subjects to make sure children have learned everything required before moving on.
