Plans have been submitted for a new logistics hub in Chorley.

FI Real Estate Management (FIREM) wants to build the 1.3 million sq ft development next to Junction 3 of the M65.

The firm claims it will create 1,300 jobs and add nearly £400 million to the local economy.

The project is one of two 'game-changing' developments from FIREM, alongside the Botany Bay Business Park, expected to contribute a combined economic value of £1.3 billion.

The planning application has been submitted to Chorley Council.

The proposed hub will cater to the UK's growing logistics sector.

It will include two large warehouse units, office and support facilities, car parking, and servicing.

Tim Knowles, founder and managing director of FIREM, said: "There are currently no commercial spaces available at this scale in the region.

"This development will attract the next generation of businesses to this well-connected part of Chorley and deliver jobs for the local economy.

“We’re passionate about continuing to invest in Chorley, and our plans for this latest site will also aim to generate inward investment for Chorley and the surrounding areas.

“As with all FIREM investments, we are a long-term investor.

"This development will remain in our ownership and be proactively managed as a catalyst for future investment in Chorley."

The new site aims to achieve BREEAM Excellent certification.

It will use renewable energy, embodied carbon capture in materials, and include EV-ready facilities.

FIREM also plans to enhance local road networks, pedestrian and cycle crossings, and improve onsite biodiversity.
