An 80s pop star, who was behind some of the biggest hits of the New Romantic era, is coming to Burnley later this month.
ABC frontman Martin Fry is bringing his latest tour to the Burnley Mechanics Theatre on Saturday, November 23.
Martin is behind multiple hit records, which include Poison Arrow, The Look of Love, All of My Heart, Be Near Me and When Smokey Sings.
He will be performing all the classics, sharing memories of more than 40 years in the music business and chatting with fans as part of his Lexicon of Life tour.
Billed as one of his most intimate tours ever, it follows the release of his autobiography – also called ‘The Lexicon of Life’.
Martin said: “I have been very lucky in my career to have played venues around the world from massive arenas in the States to Sheffield Town Hall in my hometown, where we marked 40 years of The Lexicon of Love.
“However, this tour really is something a bit different; an opportunity for stripped-back music and conversation with my fans. It will be really special, I can’t wait.”
Formed in Sheffield in 1980, ABC shot to fame both in the UK and in America and released six singles that entered the top 20 charts.
Martin remains the only member who has been with ABC throughout its entire history and is currently the only official member.
In 2012 he received an honorary Doctor of Music degree from the University of Sheffield for his contribution to music in recognition of 30 years in the business.
Critics hailed the band, who harked back to the golden era of Luxe and provided a new sound which retained the affection of listeners for four decades.
