A local authority's armed forces champion has highlighted the unsung work of the Royal British Legion in one of its towns.
Former Royal Navy diver Councillor John Slater has urged residents of Blackburn with Darwen to attend Remembrance events in the coming days.
He also highlighted the work done by the Darwen branch of the legion.
Cllr Slater, also the borough's Conservative group leader who represents Blackburn South and Lower Darwen ward, said: "As the borough's armed forces champion I should like to highlight the work Darwen's Royal British Legion does as well as that of the Blackburn branch.
"It is very important that as many people as possible attend events at the coming Remembrance Weekend.
"We need to remember and pay tribute to those who have served their country and in many cases lost their lives in conflicts around the world.
"The work of Blackburn's Royal British Legion branch is well known but Darwen's also does a great deal of good work which should be recognised and praised."
