A former X Factor star from Langho has released a new single and music video and it is influenced by her appreciation of Swedish pop group, Abba.
Grace Davies has unveiled Another Night, described as a feel-good pop anthem with an “infectious energy that immediately captivates listeners”.
Made in collaboration with producer Paul Whalley topliner (songwriting professional who writes the melody and lyrics) Ben Lythe, Another Night draws inspiration from Grace's childhood musical influences, notably ABBA.
As a result, the track is said to be “infused with a nostalgic, warm, fuzzy feeling”.
According to Grace, whose song Roots reached the top five in the UK charts in 2021, Another Night is a result of an unconventional songwriting approach as she worked backwards from melody to lyrics.
"I never work like that, normally," Grace said.
"I usually have a specific topic I want to write about, come in with lyrics pre-prepared, and then find a melody.
“This time producer Paul had the piano part already in his voice notes and I just mumbled gibberish over the top that happened to sound like the words Another Night.
“It was really fun to imagine what the song could be about from a title, rather than picking from past experiences."
The song, which at the time of writing has more than 15,000 views on YouTube, explores the delicate balance of relationships pushed to their breaking point.
The track is said to explore the territory of paranoia in love “chronicling the moment when small grievances snowball into irreparable damage”.
Despite the heavy message Grace and the team have helped transform it into an “uplifting dance-pop experience”.
She said: "You can't help but dance... ‘Dance Cry’, my personal favourite genre!"
This juxtaposition of emotional depth and catchy chorus, paired with the nostalgic melodies, creates a fun pop anthem that is not only relatable but encourages listeners to find joy and have fun, even in life's more challenging moments.
‘Grace, Ben & Paul have become somewhat of a ‘dream-team”, in their own words, across the forthcoming project - with ‘Another Night’ being the start of their co-write journey together.
In July, she supported country music icon Shania Twain at the London festival BST Hyde Park after winning a competition.
Ahead of her own appearance on the stage, Anne-Marie made a surprise appearance introducing rising star Grace, the winner of Volvic’s Emerging Artist Competition, to masses of music lovers on the Birdcage Stage.
Grace, who appeared on the X Factor in 2017, captivated the audience with her original songs, including Wolves, Used To You, Testosterone, Amsterdam, Super Love Me and Roots.
