Rail services between Blackburn and Clitheroe are experiencing cancellations to services due to a broken-down train.
Services running between Blackburn, Ramsgreave and Wilpshire, Langho, Whalley and Clitheroe have been cancelled and disruption is expected until 6pm.
Clitheroe to Rochdale services are currently unable to run and will terminate and restart at Blackburn.
The freight train operators and Network Rail and currently working to move the broken-down train.
Trains are currently unable to run in both directions.
The first service affected was the 16.25pm Clitheroe to Rochdale service which was delayed at Clitheroe.
A rail replacement bus will be requested to operate between Blackburn and Clitheroe in both directions if the problem continues.
Northern Rail has urged customers on station platforms to listen to announcements or consult Customer Information Screens for up-to-date train running information.
Compensation is available to those delayed by more than 15 minutes.
