Two Blackburn charities are joining forces this month to raise awareness of their mental health support services in the town.
Arts 2 Heal, in Tontine Street, and The Samaritans on New Park Street are also hoping to generate funds to support their vital work.
They will host ‘Linking for Joy’ on Saturday, November 9, at Blackburn Market between 12pm and 2pm to highlight the work they do in the community.
Founder of Arts 2 Heal, Banu Adam, said: “We are excited to announce our upcoming Linking for Joy event, a creative initiative aimed at raising funds for both Arts 2 Heal and The Samaritans.
"We invite the community to come together and support these worthy causes by purchasing links for our vibrant paper chain.
“Each link sold will not only contribute to our growing chain but will also support the important work of both organisations.
"Participants of all ages are encouraged to join this unique collaborative effort as we create a spectacular visual representation of hope and solidarity. The event promises to be a heart-warming experience, showcasing the power of community and creativity in making a difference.”
Director of The Samaritans in Blackburn, Paula Fairbairn, said, “We invite everyone to participate and help us reach our fundraising goal of £1,000 while enjoying an event filled with art, connection, and purpose. Together, let’s create a chain that links us all in support of Arts 2 Heal and The Samaritans.”
Banu added: “At the event, members of Arts 2 Heal will present a collaborative exhibition featuring stunning sculptures crafted from cardboard, perform live guitar music, and hold a raffle. It promises to be a lively and enjoyable experience for all.
“If you’d like to support the event but can’t attend on the day, you can donate through the 'Donate a Link' button on the Arts 2 Heal website at www.arts2heal.org.”
