A Blackburn manufacturing firm has been crowned the winner of a prestigious energy award.
WSBL Ltd secured the 2024 BPF Energy Award for achieving the highest energy efficiency improvements among 522 sites in the plastics sector.
The accolade, presented by BPF Energy Ltd, recognises significant strides in energy efficiency from 2022 to 2023.
The company’s energy consumption was compared to its production output, with WSBL Ltd managing to reduce its energy usage without affecting production levels.
Key strategies included investing in new equipment, such as a transformer feeding the site, and enhancing the efficiency of existing machinery.
The firm also streamlined its processes, reducing energy consumption in secondary processes and employing more efficient one-pass processes.
Quality improvements, installation of LED lighting, and meticulous analysis of operational efficiencies further contributed to their success.
As a result of this award, WSBL Ltd has enjoyed exclusive benefits for the 2024-2025 period, including complimentary tickets to the BPF Annual Dinner, the President’s Reception, BPF Energy Seminars, a framed certificate of achievement, and an engraved trophy.
The award presentation took place on October 10 at the Royal Lancaster London Hotel.
