As it is Halloween time, we felt it appropriate to run this photo of an East Lancashire pub that was reputedly haunted.
This photo shows the Ribblesdale Arms at Gisburn pictured in 1987.
The pub was supposedly haunted by the ghost of a servant girl, Mary, who it was claimed was raped by the lord of the manor Lord Ribblesdale after whom the pub was named and flung down the stairs.
The distraught servant hung herself and over the years there were numerous sightings of her in room 13 at the pub, built as a coaching inn in 1635.
The pub closed in 2000 and the building converted into apartments.
