The leaves are orange and the air is crisp because autumn has arrived and what better way to enjoy the change of the season than a walk around your local area.
Whether you’re always out walking or want to know where to start, here is some autumnal inspiration for your next walk.

Best autumn walks in Lancashire according to locals
Lancashire has lots of picturesque spots for walks and hikes and plenty were mentioned by locals.

Among the most popular was Sunnyhurst Wood in Darwen. The Woodland Trust's website says: “Sunnyhurst Wood is a 85 acre wooded valley, with footpaths leading onto Darwen moor up to Darwen Tower. Sunnyhurst Brook flows through the wood. Attractions include a visitor centre and a series of wooden animal sculptures.”
Another recommended visiting Sunnyhurst Wood before heading “through to Earnsdale reservoir then past Watermans cottage and past sunnyhurst pub”.
Towneley Park in Burnley was also popular among locals plus Tolkien Trail, Pendle Hill, Roddlesworth Reservoir, Wycoller and more.
One local said: “Tockholes/Roddlesworth Reservoir. Was so autumnal this morning lots of gorgeous leaves of all colours”, adding an autumn leaf emoji.

Another commented: “Roddlesworth Woods at Tockholes is beautiful at this time of year.”
A few Lancashire reservoirs were also mentioned including Calf Hey Reservoir in Haslingden, Entwistle reservoir near Darwen and Churn Clough Reservoir near Pendle Hill.
