A mental health nurse with more than 20 years’ experience in complex care settings has been appointed manager of a specialist care home in Rossendale.
Leah Houghton is the new registered manager at Lilibet Manor in Crawshawbooth.
She has joined Lilibet Manor, which is operated by the family-run care group Constantia Healthcare, with a remit to continue developing the services offered at the 46-bedroom home, which provides specialist care for people with complex needs, such as dementia and mental health issues.
Leah qualified as a mental health nurse in 2013 and has worked in a range of mental health and complex care settings, including private healthcare and the NHS.
Prior to becoming manager at Lilibet Manor, Leah worked in an independent rehabilitation mental health hospital for men.
Leah said: “When I was training to be a mental nurse, both my grandparents were diagnosed with dementia within a couple of months of each other and myself and mum helped to care for them.
“It was because of this very personal experience that I wanted to work in older adult mental health services, and I have subsequently worked with many different client groups, including people with very complex needs.
“I am therefore delighted to have become manager of Lilibet Manor because it’s a rapidly developing service supporting a wide range of people with differing needs and delivering high standards of care in the process.”
Constantia Healthcare acquired Lilibet Manor in January 2022. It now owns and operates nine homes in total across the north, including Queen’s Lodge Nursing Home in Blackburn.
Constantia Healthcare's chief operating officer, Emily Whitehurst, added: “Leah is a strategic, outcomes-focused healthcare leader, and we are delighted to welcome her to the team at Lilibet Manor.
“Her experience in complex care, along with her strong understanding of regulatory requirements, and client needs, will be invaluable as we further develop and enhance this important service within the Constantia group.”
