Lessons are continuing at Blackburn College despite it experiencing a “cyber security incident” with issues created across the network.
On Monday, October 28, the further education centre was targeted, causing issues with the IT network and access to its systems.
The college has said that they are dealing with the situation and are communicating with both staff and students – after concerns arose regarding potential data breaches.
A spokesperson for Blackburn College said: “We did receive an IT incident and cyber interference, but the college continues to function, and lessons are ongoing.
“It is not a cyber-attack, it is an incident, and it has caused some network issues.
“We are completely communicating with our staff and students about the situation.”
In September, Fylde Coast Academy Trust was hit by a cyber-attack leaving its 10 schools with limited access to its systems.
They demanded a substantial amount of money and threatened to permanently block the schools’ systems until they were paid.
With limited access to computers, laptops, printers and photocopiers, they returned to pen and paper for many routine tasks.
