A movie-themed display is terrifying and delighting residents in an East Lancashire village this Halloween.
Created by bar worker Vikkie Jayne Moore and her son Samuel Moore, this year’s theme focuses on Halloween film icons following the success of a circus-themed display last year at their Baxenden house.
Famous characters include Pennywise from IT, the Joker from Batman, Ghostface from Scream and Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street.
Last year’s display saw a spine-tingling selection of clown scarecrows with homemade masks and outfits to accompany the light display in Southwood Drive.
Complete with smoke, lighting, sound effects and music to accompany the display, Vikkie will be dressed as Pennywise and giving out treat bags and toys from 5.30pm to 9pm on October 31.
Vikkie said: “Twenty-one years ago we started collecting decorations and have acquired a varied collection.
“We love to do this to give something back to the community and every year the display has got bigger and better.
“We would like as many visitors as possible to see this and invite you to bring your children to see our display.”
Since turning the lights on, there has been a great reception and Vikkie has seen children in awe of the display on their way to school as well as passers-by in cars and vans stopping to take photos and sharing online.
After receiving a glowing reception last year, which saw hundreds of visitors attend the site, she had to ask her neighbour for additional treats due to such high demand.
This year Vikkie intends on trying to fundraise for the local church on the night and she has already received a £1 donation from a child.
The lights will remain on throughout the Halloween period and will be turned off on November 1.
