TICKETS are now on sale for this year’s annual Blackburn with Darwen Remembrance Concert.

It will take place at King George's Hall on Monday November 4 and is again being sponsored by the Royal British Legion Darwen branch.

Doors will open at 6pm and the concert starts at 6.30pm until 8pm.

Compere for the evening will be Steven Lowe, from Radio Lancashire.

Organised by former Blackburn with Darwen Council Mayor Pat McFall and Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Mayor’s office, it is a special night of music, singing and remembrance for the fallen in two world wars and other conflicts around the world.

Following the Procession of Standards, there will be a host of musical performances including guest soprano Rachel Little, local schoolchildren from the Let’s Go Sing project, the Salvation Brass Band, the Blackburn Junior Sea Cadets, Blackburn People’s Choir and the Lancashire Trills.

The Service of Remembrance will be conducted by Canon Dr Jenny Gaffin from Blackburn Cathedral before an old-fashioned sing-a-long.

There will also be a collection for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Former Little Harwood with Whitebirk ward councillor Mrs McFall said: “The concert has become a popular part of the borough’s Remembrance celebrations and raises much-needed funds for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.”

Tickets are £4 for adults and £1 for children and are available from King George’s Hall or bwdvenues.com
