Two areas of East Lancashire have been named among the best places in the UK for trick-or-treating.

With Halloween around the corner, parents are preparing for thousands of children across the UK to put on their costumes and go house to house for the sweet-filled tradition.

However, some parts of the UK may hit the 'sweet spot' for kids on Thursday, October 31, while others may leave them with a lighter treat bag.

A survey by Compare My Move considered factors such as crime rates, the percentage of properties that are houses, and the number of families and children in each area, to determine which boroughs in the UK are the best places for trick-or-treating.

It concluded that Pendle is the ideal spot for Halloween adventures, owing to its 'family-friendly vibe and abundance of houses'.

The area boasts 3.31 primary schools per 1,000 families, indicating a high family presence, which contributes to a 'safe and successful Halloween' with plenty of people taking part.

The study suggested 'the wealth of family homes and welcoming community mean children are likely to fill their bags with treats as they explore the neighbourhood'.

Rossendale doesn’t fare too badly either, ranking as the sixth-best place in the UK for trick-or-treating.

With a crime rate of 65.1 incidents per 1,000 people and 28.8 per cent of households being families, Rossendale offers a safe and family-friendly environment.

The area also has a high percentage of houses and 3.86 primary schools per 1,000 families, making it an attractive spot for trick-or-treaters.

Also making the top 10 list were Chorley in third, South Ribble in seventh, and in 10th was West Lancashire.

According to the Compare My Move study, Conwy in Wales is the least attractive spot for trick-or-treating, with sixth London boroughs also in the bottom 10.
