A Burnley mum has gone all out with her impressive Halloween decorations this year – and if you are scared of spiders you should consider looking away now.

Sally Jacks, a shopping channel presenter, has transformed her home into the ‘dead and breakfast inn’ and hundreds of spiders appear to have taken residence.

A 25-feet-wide spide sits outside the front of the home, complete with light-up eyes and smoke that comes out of the bottom.

Inside, you will also find spider-themed decorations and Sally says there are ‘webs’ and around 1,000 plastic spiders.

Sally, who also decorates the home for Easter and Christmas, said she sourced the items from a mixture of small businesses, plumbing merchants, online and Poundland.

She said: “We always do a different them every year. This year we have decided to go with spiders. I have made it into a massive theme.

“The spider web you can get on the internet can be a bit small. The material on the house was bought out of season, as the price shoots up around Halloween. Every one of those holes has been hand-cut.

“Some of the spiders we already had from years gone by but the majority are from Poundland and Amazon. We hand painted the ‘dead and breakfast sign’.

“The spider itself was handmade from chicken wire, timber, material lights, lagging, hessian material, black spray and other items.

“Inside there are around 1,000 spiders on the walls that have been blue-tacked. It looks like the whole place is infested.

“The downstairs toilet looks eerie – you don’t want to go in there for a wee.

“I try and get everything cheap as chips. I will shop around to get the best deal I can as if you save in one area you can spend more in another.”

Sally said it took around three weekends to decorate the home. The large spider itself took around two days.

Sally, who built a large pirate ship as a Halloween decoration in 2022, said she does this for the community.

“While we have been decorating people have been coming around and asking us about the decorations,” she said.

“It’s lovely and it spreads some community spirit. People are driving by constantly. Halloween will be mayhem. Trick-or-treaters don’t stop coming.

“I do it to make memories for the children and my son. It’s a community thing and neighbours say they get so excited to see the house.

“People have said there is so much bad news and tragedy in the world and said that we bring so much joy and love to the area.”

Sally has posted videos of the decorating process to her TikTok account, @sallyjackstvmum.

One video has amassed more than 133,000 views.

She said: “It’s all about spreading smiles.

“I know some people with phobias won’t like it and I apologise but it means the world that so many people get so much pleasure from it.”
