A weekend-long operation cracking down on anti-social driving saw drivers stopped and licence points handed out.

Police conducted the operation in Nelson over the weekend from Friday, October 25, to Sunday, October 27.

One driver failed to stop for police and after being located failed a drug-wipe test. They were arrested over drug driving while a passenger was cautioned for possession of a class B drug.

The vehicle was seized and impounded and the driver also failed to provide blood and was charged with failing to provide a sample. He will appear in court in the near future.

The driver of another vehicle was stopped and found to have no insurance. They were reported to the court and their vehicle was seized and impounded.

Another driver failed a drug wipe test and was arrested. He was found to be in possession of an offensive weapon and will appear in court for driving without insurance, driving without a licence, driving without a valid MOT, and possession of an offensive weapon.

One person was given three points on their licence for driving through a red light, while another was stopped and found to be disqualified from driving.

His vehicle was seized and impounded and he will be attending court to answer charges of driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.

One person was given a section 59 warning for anti-social driving, while a further 11 people were stopped and searched.

Two drivers were issued HORT1 to produce documents to Nelson police station for checks to be made on validation of the documentation.

A police spokesperson said: "This should display the efforts and commitment the team have to engage and enforce such offences.

"The Neighbourhood team will continue to target this area and will enforce road-related issues."
