Police have closed a rural road, just outside of Lancaster after a concern for welfare was raised.

Officers have currently closed Back Lane in Wennington and between the junctions with Spout Lane and Back Lane in both directions.

Drivers are advised to find an alternative route and the police will provide an update when the road reopens.

According to the AA Traffic News, traffic is currently coping well with drivers urged to follow the diversions in place.

Suggested routes going include the B6480 via Low Bentham or connecting to the A683 at Burton in Lonsdale.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “Good afternoon, due to an ongoing police incident.

Back Lane in Wennington is currently closed between the junctions with Spout Lane and Back Lane in both directions.

“You are advised at this time to find an alternative route. We will provide an update when the road is re-open.”
