An allegedly speeding Lamborghini driver asked to be “let off as it's his wedding day”, police say.

Officers said they received four reports about the green supercar speeding around Bury before they reported stopping it on Saturday, October 26.

They said that after being stopped the driver could also not prove he had valid insurance but gave them an unusual excuse for his anti-social behaviour

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Four reports of this Lamborghini speeding in Bury.

“When stopped, the driver couldn't prove valid insurance but asked to be let off ‘as it’s his wedding day’.

“Greater Manchester Police Traffic had no confetti on hand, so we improvised and threw six points at the would-be groom instead.”

Officers say the car was then seized.

This comes amid long-running concerns about speeding and other kinds of anti-social driving on the roads across Greater Manchester in recent months and years.

Officers have frequently dealt with cases of speeding, dangerous driving, drink and drug driving and with uninsured or unlicensed drivers.
