The Trafford Centre's Wilderspool Woods will be 'transformed into a Christmas wonderland' this year.

The 4.5-acre space will host The Christmas Trail, a festive light show presented by the creators of The Twilight Trail.

The trail will run every day from November 8, 2024, until January 2, 2025, from 4pm.

It follows the successful launch of The Halloween Trail at the same location.

The Christmas Trail hopes to 'whisk visitors into a magical wonderland of twinkling lights and festive magic.'

The woods will be lit up by a variety of lights and installations, including 'The Moon', a giant glowing sculpture suspended between the trees.

Visitors can also look out for Father Christmas’ hidden treasures, a collection of giant, illuminated presents hiding in the trees.

Other highlights include a four-metre 'Shooting Star, Giant Orbs, and Fallen Stars.'

A festive soundtrack will accompany the trail, adding to the Christmas spirit as visitors make their way through, scattered with falling snowflakes.

Complementing the festive atmosphere, Freight Island is opening a festive pop-up at Wilderspool Woods.

This will be available for guests at The Christmas Trail and everyone visiting Trafford Centre this festive season.

Food and drink options include roasties, festive poutine, giant New York-style pizza slices with holiday toppings, and various hot chocolate creations.

There will also be seasonal smash burgers from special guest trader Heard, the new burger venture from two Michelin-starred chef Jordan Bailey.

Dan Morris, co-founder of Trafford Trails, said: "We’re thrilled to transform Wilderspool Woods into a Christmas wonderland this year.

"It promises to be a magical experience filled with incredible light displays, interactive moments, and delicious food."

Free parking is available for all ticket holders, and there are also transport links via tram and bus.

The event will also support the Greater Manchester Mayor Charity, which helps organisations across the community working to end homelessness in Greater Manchester.

There will be a tap-to-donate point at the marshmallow stand, where visitors can grab a marshmallow to toast for free, or tap to donate £3 to the charity.

Simon Layton, centre director at Trafford Centre, added: "We’re delighted to bring a new festive experience to Trafford this Christmas.

"Collaborating once again with Freight Island and other fantastic partners, we’ve created an unforgettable celebration of light, joy, and seasonal magic.

"We can’t wait to see Wilderspool Woods sparkle this Christmas."

Tickets are on sale now, with prices starting from £8 for children, £10 for adults, and family tickets from £32.
