One lane is closed on the A56 today, Thursday, National Highways has warned.

One lane, of two, is closed in both directions between the A680 Rising Bridge and the A679 Huncoat.

This is for emergency barrier repairs after a lorry crashed into the central reservation on Monday (October 21).

Fire and police descended after the crash, which caused major traffic delays.

A police spokesperson said: “One lane, of two, lanes remain closed in both directions on the A56 between the A680 Rising Bridge and the A679 Huncoat.

“This is to allow for emergency barrier repairs to take place following a collision. They are expected to be ongoing until tomorrow (October 25).”
