An award-winning tearoom in Rivington will be hosting Christmas markets for the fourth year.

The Village Green Tea Room on Sheephouse Lane will open its doors for two festive dates alongside a neighbouring chapel.

Each market will host around 15 different traders offering personalised gifts, Christmas decorations, books, dog treats, sweets, kids clothing and more, with stalls being split between the tearoom and the chapel.

Manager Jade Tolen said: “We’ve had brilliant feedback from past markets and want to encourage people to come for a look around.

“If they can buy a couple of gifts from the stalls, it’s always good to spend locally rather than with the big supermarkets.

“There will be different traders on both days, so it gives shoppers the chance to find something special. People always really enjoy it.”

Visitors will also get a chance to see inside the neighbouring Rivington chapel, which Jade said is always a topic of conversation with her tearoom customers.

“They’re always asking about next door,” she laughed.

“This is a good opportunity for them to come for a proper look around and help support the community.”

Stallholders will pay £10 each to host with all funds going to the chapel.

The family business was started by Jane’s grandmother more than 43 years ago and Jade began working at the tearoom when she was just 16 years-old.

She said: “My grandma is still involved and my mum serves on the counter and helps customers. It’s like home to me.”

The markets are free to attend and dog-friendly. The tearooms will be open to provide food and drinks.

The markets will take place on Saturday, October 26 and Saturday, November 2 from 10am – 4pm.
