Fire crews were called to a residential flat in Burnley as a resident left a pan on the hob and went out.
When the team arrived at the flat, in Bethesda Street, it was filled with smoke and had to use two breathing apparatuses and a fan to remove the smoke.
The pan had burnt through, and teams put it under running water to extinguish the smoke.
On their website Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service reminds residents that getting distracted or cooking with poor safety habits can be very dangerous and most accidental fires started in the home are caused while cooking.
In the event of a cooking fire, you should:
- Stay calm. Leave the room and close the door behind you
- Get out of the house
- Call 999 and ask for fire brigade
- Stay outside until firefighters arrive and make it safe to re-enter.
The Fire Service has been contacted for more information.
